Kick-off: Soclimpact project has started

From the 30th to the 31st of January 2018, the kick off meeting of the EU project "SOCLIMPACT" took place in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. 44 participants from 24 institutions from eight European countries came together, from BEF Germany we were represented with 2 colleagues.

The SOCLIMPACT project examines the impact of climate change on European islands. It particularly focuses on tourism, renewable energy, fisheries and maritime transport. The project wants to find answers how European islands can adapt to climate change. Using an abundance of sea and weather data, scenarios are calculated which allow the development of more precise adaptation strategies.

Two days of workshops, professional exchange and the organization of the upcoming work packages were on the tightly packed program. The next steps have been agreed and the cooperation is now taking off. The next three years will certainly be exciting and labor intensive! We will continue to report here...
