Successful workshop on approaching national adaptation strategies to climate change in the Baltic States

Representatives from politics and science came together with invited speakers from Germany, Finland and Lithuania on 29 and 30 of May in Tallinn to discuss selected aspects of adaptation to climate change during the workshop “Approaching national adaptation strategies to climate change in the Baltic States”.

The workshop presentations shared experiences on the process in Germany and Finland. “Involve all stakeholders and think thoroughly about adaptation options”, these were the main recommendations. Furthermore, the benefits of a closer collaboration among the Baltic States on adaptation questions and the need for practice-oriented information for policy-makers were highlighted. The representatives of the Baltic Ministries of the Environment – the main addressees of the workshop – agreed: “The explanations on climate models and what they can deliver were particularly helpful for us.”

The workshop was organized in the frame of the project BaltClim (“Supporting national adaptation strategies to climate change in the Baltic States”) by the Baltic Environmental Forum. More information on the project and the presentations from the event can be found here
