New project on waste management in Macedonia

In Macedonia, the municipal level is responsible for waste management. In the current situation, local administrations are still reluctant towards regional cooperation and there are a number of uncertainties and misunderstandings concerning the national strategy on waste management. The project wants to strengthen the regional cooperation and present its advantages.

The goals of the project are to support the Macedonian authorities in creating a regional waste management system, to help with organizational issues, to discuss cost efficient technological options and to support the international information exchange between experts from Macedonia, Germany and Latvia. BEF Germany is managing the project. The project partners are supported by the German association of Cities and the Association of Latvian waste management companies.

The project is funded by the German Federal Environment Agency/ German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

You can contact the project manager Philipp Engewald if you have any further questions about the project.
