Successful conference on Energy saving and Energy efficiency in Zagreb

Approximately 150 participants from the public sector, civil society organisations, business and international organization have joined the conference “Activate the Community – Through Joint Actions to Lower Energy Bills” in Zagreb on 31.01. and 01.02.2012 organised by DOOR in close cooperation with the Baltic Environmental Forum Germany.

The conference presentations and discussion showed that there is clearly a large potential and willingness to save energy. There are already lots of smart ideas and solutions available from previous initiatives and projects in Germany, Croatia and other countries. “Don’t be afraid to copy good examples” was the message from several speakers. We hope to have contributed to an exchange of ideas and fruitful discussions that will lead to additional efforts in energy saving in Croatia.

In addition to the interesting debates, DOOR and BEF used this conference as the kick-off for a Croatia-wide energy saving competition. Croatian municipalities, schools and civil society organisations are invited to take part in the competition and carry-out small energy saving measures.

The conference was organized in the frame of the project ENCRO (“Promoting and testing soft measures for energy saving in Croatia“). More information about the project can be found here and for Croatian speaking readers we recommend to have a look at the ENCRO project website here.
